American Revolution
The American Revolution began in 1775. At that time British had the most powerful army in the world. While the Americans had untrained soldiers. British soldiers and American patriots/soldiers started the war with battles in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. The American's wanted independence from Britain, England. The British passed many taxes, and increased more control over the colonies. The colonies strongly objected to these laws and taxes. They didn't want England to control them anymore. George Washington a former military officer and wealthy Virginian, was appointed Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. Members of the Continental Congress wrote a letter to King George saying their complaints and declaring independence from England. On July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress made the Decleraltion Of Independence, in which the colonies declared their Independence from England. The war ended in 1783, and the United States Of America was born.
French Revolution
The French Revolution began in 1789. At that time France was an Absolute Monarchy. For centuries, the quality life of life in Europe had been determined by the status that a person or a family held. This status could not be earned, but was determined by the family to which someone was born. If you were born in a poor family, your life would be poverty. 97% of people in Europe struggled to survive while the other 3% lived a life of wealth and comfort. This created a gap between the wealthy and poor and became resentment. By the 18th century it was called The Age Of Enlightenment. Marie Antoinette disagreed with some extremists. And I'm just sayin we didn't see her again. She was assassinated by a guillotine.
HOlocaust
The holocaust was a major event in history that killed 75-200 million people in Europe. This was all led by Adolf Hitler. It was in the middle of World War 2. He was on a Genocide which means he killed so many people at one. If you were Jew back then you had to where big stars on their shirts to symbolize that they are Jews. They were sent to concentration camps to be killed.
